Founded in 2013 by Jon Dean and Farrell Edwards, XacFAQ focuses on developing apps for smartphones, tablets and other connected devices such as Google Glass. XacFAQ has built a technology platform that allows content owners to quickly and easily deliver that content to connected consumers, with the entire development and live service managed by XacFAQ.
Two apps were published in 2014 that demonstrated to potential licensees how the platform works, and how XacFAQ could maintain the live services 24/7, Xac USA and XAC UK (see below). While not pursuing a consumer market in themselves, each game developed a small and loyal following, eager to play the engaging and often humorous trivia content.
The XacFAQ content platform proved to have application beyond trivia games, and was of interest to brands engaged in elearning and training also.
The Team
XacFAQ during the first year was essentially Farrell and I doing everything. We hired contractors as needed, and cajoled friends and family members into helping us whenever we could. This gave the XacUSA and XacUK games a pretty impressive credits list, which we updated over time, but below is how it looked in the fall of 2014:
